Low-emission and zero-emission zone for the truck
For trucks the Dutch zero-emission zones bite first: between 2025 and 2030 almost thirty municipalities introduce one, each with its own start date and a transition rule for Euro 5 and Euro 6. Zonetoegang tells you per number plate where your truck may still enter and until when.
May enter, may enter until a date, or no access
A Euro 6 tractor unit from 2024 may still enter the zero-emission zones until 01-01-2030, a Euro 6 rigid truck from 2018 until 01-01-2028 (status 12-10-2026). Each zone lists the official decisions of the municipality, with a link. If your route runs through a zone your truck may not enter, Zonetoegang plans a route around it.
Per number plate, not per vehicle category
Enter the number plate and Zonetoegang fetches the vehicle from the RDW: Euro class, CO2 class, fuel, weight, vehicle type and date of first admission. Every zone then gets a verdict for exactly that vehicle: may enter, may enter until a date, or no access. You see it straight away on the map.
Abroad too: Crit'Air, Umweltzone, LEZ and ZTL
Low-emission zones exist across Europe: Crit'Air zones in France, Umweltzonen in Germany, LEZs in Belgium and the United Kingdom, ZTLs in Italy. Zonetoegang covers 28 countries and more than 1,100 zones from official sources, with the official place to order a vignette or register the vehicle.
Only official sources, updated daily
Zonetoegang uses only government sources: NDW, RDW, Rijkswaterstaat, the Dutch government (milieuzones.nl and opwegnaarzes.nl), officielebekendmakingen.nl and the authorities of other countries. A new traffic decision about a zone is included the next morning.
Frequently asked questions
Does a zero-emission zone also apply to my Euro 6 truck?
Yes, but with a transition rule: Euro 6 trucks may usually still enter for a number of years, differing per municipality. Zonetoegang shows per number plate until when.
Can I plan a route around the zones?
Yes. The route planner drives around the zones, signs and closures your truck may not enter, with an explanation per restriction.
